Liege wants to co-create its future

The city of Liege has launched an online citizen participation platform. Citizens can come on the platform from the 8th of March to the 22nd of May to propose ideas to reinvent their city. On one hand, the city has already posted some innovative proposals on the platforms such as implementing a participatory budget or an open data portail for the city in order to consult citizens on these ideas. On the other hand, it is listening to other proposals from citizens.

The city also understands that digital participation can be out of reach for some citizens. To include them in the participation process, it organises “citizen workshops” where they are explained how the platform works so they can post or comment on ideas.

In this respect, the city makes a great use of the CitizenLab platform to centralize all the information related to this broad-ranging participation effort. Citizens can easily find the information on all the offline participation events organised by the city – among them 5 inspiring talks about the challenges of the city of tomorrow such as energy, alimentation, or new urban economic models.

CitizenLab in your city?

CitizenLab is a civic engagement platform on which citizens co-create their city. The platform facilitates a two-way communication between the city and its citizens. The city uses CitizenLab to consult the opinion of its citizens and to crowdsource their creative solutions to an existing problem. Our ready-to-use, yet fully customisable software solution helps cities tap into the collective intelligence of the citizens in order to enrich urban decision-making with their insights.
